Parent Referrals
Parents are referred to child care providers when their program is listed with the 4-C, CCR&R program. The child care program’s information will be placed in the CCR&R computer data base and will be available when matching parent’s requests for child care.

To list a child care program...

• Providers meet legal requirements.
• By phone or in writing, providers provide information for the computer data base.
• When a program is licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) a copy of the current child care license is sent to 4-C.
• License-exempt providers provide a copy of written documentation from DCFS indicating the license exempt status.

License-exempt family home child care providers also...

• Agree to care for no more than three children (including their own children under 12 years of age) or any number of children from one family only.
• Complete a License-Exempt Self-Certification Form.
• Attend a “How to Start” workshop offered by 4-C.
• Submit a copy of current CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Provide Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System (CANTS) clearance for the provider and all other household members over 12 years of age.
• Complete a “Welcome Visit” to the home by CCR&R staff.
