Fostering True Belonging in Early Childhood Spaces

Creating a sense of belonging is essential to children’s social-emotional development, mental health, and overall well-being. In this interactive training, participants will explore the difference between inclusion and true belonging and examine how relationships, classroom environments, and daily interactions influence children’s sense of connection and safety.
Through reflection, discussion, and practical strategies, providers will learn how to create welcoming, relationship-centered environments where every child and family feels seen, valued, respected, and included, Participants will explore ways to support diverse identities, strengthen family partnerships, respond to challenging behaviors through a belonging lens, and cultivate classroom practices that promote emotional safety and connection. This training is designed to help early childhood professionals create nurturing spaces where children can develop confidence, build positive relationships, and thrive as members of a caring community.
