Play-Based Learning for All Ages
Research shows that setting our kids up for success in school and beyond with play-based learning is the best approach for our learning environments. Teaching children relevant skills through play keeps them motivated to learn. Children are natural players and with a play-based program, you are able to allow the child to explore, experiment, discover, and solve problems in imaginative and playful ways. A play-based approach involves both child-initiated and teacher-supported learning. As the classroom teacher or family provider, you can encourage learning and growth through interactions that aim to stretch their thinking to higher levels. Through this training, you will explore how to design your setting to fit the needs of any age group that focuses on child-initiated learning. We will also look at curriculum development to ensure materials are available to the children that are age-appropriate and can be utilized in child-directed learning opportunities. Finding a healthy balance of both free play and guided play will ensure the child is receiving a solid foundation in the learning process.
