Respond Don’t React: The Brain Behind Behavior

This introductory training explores the Brain State Model from Conscious Discipline®, providing participants with a practical understanding of how children move between the Survival State, Emotional State, and Executive State. Participants will examine how their own brain states influence interactions with children and discover simple strategies to shift from reacting to responding. Through discussion, real-life classroom examples, and opportunities for reflection, educators will learn how connection and co-regulation create the conditions for learning, problem-solving, and healthy relationships. Whether you are new to Conscious Discipline or looking to strengthen your understanding of the “why” behind children’s behavior, this training offers a foundational framework that can be applied in early childhood settings.
